In order to qualify for this certificate, students enrolled in any master's in engineering program will need to meet the requirements listed below in addition to the standards requirements for their master's degree. Students with previous courses in machine learning may place out of CSE 417T. These students will be required to complete an additional foundations course for a total of three foundations courses. Students who began the certificate prior to FL16 who have successfully completed 517A independent of 417T will be required to complete an additional foundations course in place of 417T for a total of three foundations courses. No student will be allowed to take 417T after the successful completion of 517A. Any student who began the certificate prior to FL16 may choose to take 441T in place of 541T. To request that your certificate be opened, please email the CSE Graduate Program Coordinator: [email protected]. If you do not officially request it to be opened, it will not appear on your degree record, and you will not be able to graduate with it, and will not be able to ask that it be retroactively applied to your degree after graduating. Please note that the registrar’s office will only officially add the certificate to the student’s record if the request is approved by the department before the fourth week of the semester, or after the tenth week of the semester. Requests made between the fourth and tenth week of the semester will be reviewed for approval, and the official change will go into effect on the student’s record after the tenth week of the semester.
