Dual fellowship training is becoming a more popular pathway at Washington University in St. Louis and Barnes-Jewish Hospital; in fact, in the past 5 years, 75% of the ACTA fellows have completed prior fellowship training (typically CCM). We find applicants who have chosen to pursue dual fellowship training in CCM and ACTA are among the most highly sought after. Though these fellowships enjoy close collaboration and many mutual faculty, they are separate ACGME fellowship training pathways and are completed sequentially (our preference is for CCM to precede ACTA fellowship training). To streamline the application process, one application may be completed with the SF Match for either the CCM or the ACTA program. We will share the application information with all relevant parties. Application Information To streamline the application process, applicants need to complete either the SF Match CCM or ACTA fellowship application. In order to assure your application is flagged appropriately for dual CCM/ACTA fellowship training, please email the program directors of both fellowships  [email protected] and [email protected] and express your interest in this training pathway. We work to coordinate a busy, but comprehensive interview day comprised of observing rounds in both the Cardiothoracic ICU and the Surgical ICU (the 2 core intensive care units), lunch with fellows from both fellowships, and interviews with a variety of faculty (including dual CCM/ACTA faculty) from diverse specialties relevant to dual fellowship training. How to Apply We participate in the San Francisco Match’s Central Application Service. For the 3 letters of recommendation submitted with the SF Match application, please include at least one intensivist and one cardiothoracic anesthesiologist letter noting your interest in each fellowship or dual fellowship training. For applicants currently in a residency training program (or graduated within the last five years), one of the three required letters of recommendation MUST be from your residency Program Director.
