Projects & Publications Art and Music | This scanning project was a joint effort of the Gaylord Music Library Special Collections and the Missouri Historical Society Library Das Deutsche Lied | This scanning project was a joint effort of the Gaylord Music Library Special Collections and the Missouri Historical Society Library Scanned editions of The Herald of Music, The Impressario, and Kunkel’s Musical Review | This scanning project was a joint effort of the Gaylord Music Library Special Collections, the Missouri Historical Society Library, the LaBudde Special Collections, Miller Nichols Library, St. Louis Public Library, and the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Music World | This collection provides a look at three digitized issues from Volume 1 (May – September 1893) of The Music World; this collection was uploaded by the Gaylord Music Library and made available through the Internet Archive. Musical News | This collection provides a look at various digitized issues from Volumes 1 and 2 (Volume 1, number 1 to Volume 2, number 3, spanning September 1897-November 1898) of Musical News. Musicians’ Necrology (1998-2012) | Gaylord Music Library Necrology project contains musicians’ death notices and obituary locations. Since death notices often contain conflicting dates, ages, and name forms, all are reported. The Reporter of Strassberger’s Conservatory of Music | This digitized collection showcases Volumes 1-27 (1899-1929) of The Reporter of Strassberger’s Conservatory of Music publication. Images of Ancient Music | This database contains images associated with the music of ancient Greece and Rome, as well as other images connected with Greco-Roman antiquity. Also includes some images of ancient and modern instruments and places and objects related to the ancient Greco-Roman world more broadly, and some recordings of ancient Greek and Roman literature read aloud. Project director: Tim Moore, John and Penelope Biggs Distinguished Professor of Classics Music & Racial Segregation in 20th Century St. Louis: Uncovering the Sources | St. Louis, notorious for its history of racial segregation but also widely celebrated for its vibrant musical heritage, provides a significant test case for questions about the connections between music and segregation in urban life. The collection is a database of archival sources exploring key moments in the history of music and segregation in mid-20th century St. Louis.
