These programs offer the opportunity for an Olin students to be paired with an established, successful businessperson or to serve as a mentor to a prospective high school student. Participation in the program will enhance the personal and professional development of selected students. Students will also gain a greater understanding of the workplace and business through interactions with their mentors. Olin Community Connections Olin Community Connections serves as a space for members of underrepresented populations to connect with one another, members of the Olin community, and diverse alumni to discuss life here at Olin, navigating majority-minority spaces, career perspectives, and more! First-year students will also be paired with an upper-class mentor to provide an additional source of support and a friendly face as you work to understand and navigate Olin and WashU. Pam Kendall-Rijos Women’s Mentor Program The Pam Kendall-Rijos Women’s Mentor Program was established in 2008 and has connected over 200 Olin Business School students with over 60 female mentors from all industries. The program connects female students with professional women, both in the greater St. Louis area and throughout the country, who serve as role models and mentors, helping to enhance their professional and technical skills as they move towards purpose-driven careers. The mission of the Pam Kendall-Rijos Women’s Mentor Program is to foster relationships between successful businesswomen and female students, complementing their academic curriculum with exposure to the business community. Sophomore Women’s Mentor Program– pairs rising sophomore, female students with St. Louis area businesswomen from various industries. The student/mentor pairs meet twice per semester for events and activities, such as speakers, mock interviews, and small group discussions. The student/mentor pair is also expected to conduct one-on-one meetings outside of mandatory group events. Opportunities for company site visits and dinners with area leaders will be offered throughout the year. Students will commit approximately six hours per semester and must make a commitment to the program for the entire academic year. Junior Women’s Mentor Program – pairs rising junior, female students with female industry leaders across the country. The relationship will be conducted via email, Skype, or during academic breaks. Students should expect to commit 4-8 hours per semester and must make a commitment to the program for the entire academic year. In addition to the mentor relationship, students are invited to join company site visits and networking events. Application Timeline Applications for 2023-2024 academic year are currently closed. Applications are anticipated to open for our next cohort Spring 2024. Olin Summer Program Mentors Current Olin BSBA students can lend a hand to Olin’s next generation of prospective students as a Summer Programs Mentor. Mentors assist with educational activities, guide work on mini-consulting projects, live with students in residential halls, and participate in offsite activities in this paid summer opportunity. As a mentor you will mentor high school students exploring a business career in one of the following summer programs: Olin Fleischer Scholars Program, BOLD@Olin, Gateway to Business. Summer Mentoring positions are open to Olin undergraduate students over 18 years of age with a 2.0 GPA or higher. Mentors must pass a background check and complete an online training program.
