After teaching English literature to International Baccalaureate students in Kuala Lumpur and eating lots of delicious Malaysian food, she decided to move back to the United States to pursue a doctorate.   She received a PhD in comparative literature from Washington University in St. Louis, where she specialized in the literature of an incredibly small part of the African continent, a subject which she teaches from time to time. As an advisor, she loves seeing ArtSci students step outside their academic comfort zones to challenge themselves and stumble upon new passions. As an assistant dean, Maya serves as a four-year advisor and develops numerous programs to enhance the undergraduate learning experience, including overseeing the process for receiving internship credit.   Off campus, you’ll find her corralling her dogs, Lucy and Angus, binge-watching BBC crime dramas on Netflix, and making a mess in her kitchen. contact info:Pronouns: She/HerEmail: [email protected]: 314-935-4936Fax: 314-696-0565Office: Cupples II, 104office hours:Drop-in Advising Monday 12:00 - 2:30 PMmailing address:WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY MSC 1117-0112-01 ONE BROOKINGS DR.
