The essay must also address how the MPHS will complement your clinical training and how you envision putting this specialized MPHS training to use in your career. Essays may not exceed one single-spaced page with no smaller than 11-point font. Letter of interest in a scholarship, if applicable Letter(s) of recommendation or support: For Washington University residents, fellows, faculty and physicians and BJC affiliates, one letter of support from departmental leadership or the training director is required. The letter should state the allocation of dedicated time to meet course and program requirements. Residents and fellows are expected to demonstrate 80% protected time over a full academic year. For Washington University medical and health sciences students, one letter of recommendation commenting on the applicant’s preparedness for a career in population health is required. The letter may come from anyone who has taught, mentored or worked with you professionally. All other MPHS applicants must submit three letters of recommendation reflecting on academic and professional requirements. Certificate applicants may submit just two letters. For both degree and certificate applicants, at least one of the recommendation letters must be focused on the applicant’s academic performance and potential. External applicants External applicants (applicants who are not currently affiliated with Washington University/BJC) must additionally submit: Transcripts – Send documentation of degrees and official transcripts from any institution attended beyond high school (see note below regarding transcripts from international applicants) Standardized test scores – Provide current official scores of the GRE or MCAT. Current is defined as within 10 years for the GRE and the MCAT. English language proficiency – International applicants must submit current (within two years of application date) official scores of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or ECFMG English Language Certification. How to apply Application items can be emailed to the Program Coordinator: [email protected] International applicants Important note for international applicants regarding academic transcripts: All academic transcripts from institutions outside of the United States must be evaluated by a U.S.-based external credentialing service. Since it takes a credentialing service several weeks to complete an evaluation, please begin this process as soon as possible. To expedite the admissions review process, please send copies of your academic transcripts or marks sheets to the Washington University MPHS Admissions Office, in addition to submitting your academic records to a credentialing agency. When contacting the credentialing service of your choice, you will need to request a course-by-course evaluation. Some of the most frequently used credentialing agencies are AACRAO, ECE and WES.
