First 40 New students participate in a wide-ranging series of social and cultural events during the first forty days of classes. Student Life Newspaper Student Life is one of the oldest collegiate newspapers in the country, founded in 1878. Read it online or in print for campus news, sports reporting, events, opinions and more. WILD Offered in the spring each year, this popular concert and festival features plenty of refreshments and music by a nationally recognized band. Assembly Series The Assembly Series, Washington University’s signature lecture series, enjoys a long and rich tradition. Bear CLAW Series The Bear CLAW Series is a great way to connect with other students as soon as you come to WashU. Black Anthology This student production celebrates African-American history and culture, and educates our community. Carnaval Put on by the Association of Latin American Students, this performance showcases a variety of dances from salsa, to hip hop, to a mariachi band performance. Cheap Lunch Sponsored by EnCouncil, Cheap Lunch is held every Wednesday throughout the academic year. For a small price, you get pizza and all-you-can-eat snacks.
