From day one, the student is expected to pick up patients and act as their primary physician. The student will see a wide range of patients, from those in the ambulatory care section to those who are critically ill. Students will present their patients directly to attending physicians during the majority of their time in the ED. They will have the opportunity to perform procedures such as suturing lacerations, draining abscesses, intubation, and resuscitation. The students will be responsible for attending Grand Rounds and Interesting Case Conference as well as small group/simulation sessions consisting of resident-run case studies and attending-run didactic rounds. Students will also have protected time to attend the department-sponsored journal club, an airway lab, a suture lab, an ultrasound lab, and depending on the time of year, an invasive procedure lab. We look forward to having you rotate with us and experience Emergency Medicine. For more information contact: Mark D.
