Orscheln, MD, professor of Pediatrics and director of ambulatory Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has been appointed the vice chair of Community Health and Strategic Planning for the Department of Pediatrics, effective June 1, 2024. In this pivotal role, Orscheln will act as a crucial link between the department and community pediatric providers, spearheading initiatives to advance children&＃8217;s health in our community and region.  Orscheln earned her BS in biology from the University of Missouri &＃8211; Columbia, where she was a Conley Scholar, and graduated from the University of Missouri &＃8211; Columbia School of Medicine. She completed her residency in pediatrics at St. Louis Children&＃8217;s Hospital and a fellowship in pediatric infectious disease at WashU Medicine. Orscheln has been a member of the Pediatrics faculty since 2005. Throughout her career, Orscheln has shown unwavering dedication to the clinical care of pediatric patients, especially those with immunocompromising conditions. Her consistent recognition as one of the Best Doctors in St. Louis since 2015 reflects her exceptional skills and commitment. During the pandemic, she collaborated with various community agencies, including state government and educational leaders, on critical issues related to COVID and schools. Her efforts were recognized with the prestigious Missouri Association of School Administrators (MASA) Friend of Education Award and the Dean&＃8217;s Impact Award.
