The clinic also offers genetic education and counseling to help patients and families understand the implications of the diagnosis. If appropriate, we offer and help arrange for genetic testing. The complex results of genetic testing are evaluated by our cardiovascular geneticists to help patients and families formulate a comprehensive care plan which, in certain cases, is able to identify at-risk family members. While the clinic focuses on genetic evaluation and not ongoing clinical care, if requested by a patient or health care provider, we can coordinate referrals to the appropriate expert clinicians within our division to deliver ongoing world-class care. The physicians in the Cardiovascular Genetics Clinic are also leaders in cutting-edge genetic research studies, helping to understand the genetic basis of cardiovascular disease and applying genetic insights to meaningfully impact patient care and therapeutic drug development. The faculty has published breakthrough studies in leading medical and scientific journals including The New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, Nature, and Science.
