The College Office is comprised of educational leaders, advisors, analysts, and coordinators dedicated to helping students achieve a life of personal meaning and purpose through a liberal arts education. Learn more about The College Office Director of Pre-College Programs Becki Baker has worked in youth programming for over 20 years. She holds degrees in History and Political Science from University of Missouri-Columbia and Art History from University of Missouri-St. Louis as well as a certificate in Marketing from WashU. She completed the College Advising Program through Teachers College at Columbia University. Becki spent ten summers working for Camp Highlander in Mills River, North Carolina, five of which were as program director for summer and year-round educational programming, before joining WashU in 2010. She is an active member in the American Camp Association and Association for Pre-College Program Directors. Becki is an advocate for college access. She is dedicated to providing personalized advising experiences to ensure students are prepared for college success. Program Staff We hire current WashU students to work as program assistants providing academic and community support, planning enrichment activities and ensuring the rules and regulations of our programs are followed. In addition to our program assistants, we hire supervisors to oversee program logistics, act as an emergency resource for parents and students, and supervise program assistants. Our staff participate in training programs designed for working with youth. They have passed federal background checks and are CPR/First Aid certified. MEET OUR 2024 SUMMER STAFF Instructors All of our programs are taught by WashU affiliated instructors which include faculty, graduate students, post docs, and adjuncts. Our office works closely with instructors to ensure an excellent student academic experience. Youth Protection Policy All members of the WashU community, including students, faculty, and staff, are expected to be positive role models in their interactions with minors by behaving in a caring, honest, respectful, and responsible manner.
