Note: You will need a FAA Remote Pilot Certificate to operate a drone on WUSTL owned properties. In addition to having an operator certificate your drone must be registered with the FAA and the drone must meet WU insurance requirements. If you do not have a remote pilot certificate please refer to our drone policy (“Purpose” section) for how to obtain one. For WUSTL/WUSM Faculty, Staff and 3rd Party Drone requests follow the below steps: I. Review WUSTL Drone Policy. II. Complete “Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) (“Drones”) Proposed Operating Plan” (Appendix B of WUSTL Drone Policy). III. Complete “UAS consent form agreement”(third-party applicants only) (Appendix C of WUSTL Drone Policy). IV. Contact the Office of Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) 314-362-6816 for coordination and approval. Submit appendices B and C along with any required documents to EH&S. V. In addition to steps 1-4, Medical Campus sUAS “Drone” operation requires the following: Contacting at least 72 hours prior to flight Emergency Department Communications Center: 314-362-9104 WUSM Protective Services: 314-362-4357 THE OPERATION OF UNMANNED AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS INCLUDING DRONES AND MODEL AIRCRAFT ON WU OWNED PROPERTY IS REGULATED BY THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION (FAA) PART 107 AND RELEVANT STATE LAW. VIOLATIONS OF THIS POLICY WILL BE HANDLED BY THE RESPECTIVE JUDICIAL OR PERFORMANCE REVIEW BOARDS FOR FACULTY, STAFF AND STUDENTS, BEING THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON TENURE AND ACADEMIC FREEDOM, HUMAN RESOURCES, AND THE OFFICE OF STUDENT CONDUCT, RESPECTIVELY. VIOLATIONS RESULTING IN A FATALITY OR SERIOUS INJURY, OR REPEAT VIOLATIONS, MAY RESULT IN PERFORMANCE SANCTIONS UP TO AND INCLUDING SUSPENSION AND TERMINATION.
