Ben Harlan Senturia Ben Harlan Senturia, MD The Senturia Lectureship was established in 1977 by the St. Louis Otological Foundation. Ben Harlan Senturia was a native of St. Louis and obtained both his undergraduate degree (1931) and his medical degree (1935) from Washington University. Following his internship and residency at McMillan Hospital, he was appointed to the otolaryngology faculty at Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Senturia served in the United States Air Force from 1942 to 1945 and was assigned to the research section of the School of Aviation Medicine where he conducted research in external otitis and noise-induced hearing loss. Following his military service, he returned to St. Louis to practice and teach. In 1972 he became president of the American Otological Society.
