He served as president of the Washington University Board of Trustees for 33 years and gave much of his time and estate to revitalize the university and its medical school. The Robert S. Brookings Partners giving society was created to honor and recognize those who support the mission of Washington University through estate gifts, life income plans, or other planned gifts. Members receive the Brookings Partners digital newsletter and invitations to the Brookings Partners annual luncheon and other events.
