The conditions we treat include: Menstrual periods that are heavy, frequent/infrequent, painful or irregular Signs of early or delayed sexual maturation Breast abnormalities, including asymmetry or pain Unusual genital appearance Chronic genital rashes or itching Vaginal discharge, drainage or odor Ovarian cysts or pelvic masses Pelvic endometriosis Birth defects or injuries involving the reproductive organs Learn more about the specific care we provide » About gynecologic care for infants and children Children are generally cared for by their pediatrician or family physician; however, your pediatrician may contact a pediatric gynecologist to assist with difficult or challenging medical conditions. Common reasons children are seen by pediatric gynecologists include vulvar and vagina irritation that will not improve despite hygiene and medications, congenital anomalies of the genitalia, labial adhesions, lichen sclerosus, pelvic masses, and early signs of puberty (breast development) or vaginal bleeding.
