She is currently engaged in projects spanning three main strands of research: (1) public attitudes towards immigrants; (2) racial/ethnic relations; and (3) neighborhood selection and residential inequality. Professor Schachter primarily uses experiments and causal inference methods; more recently she has begun using big data and computational text analysis in her work. She completed her B.A. at Rice University and her PhD in Sociology from Stanford University in 2016. Her work has been published in leading sociology journals, including the American Sociological Review, Social Forces, and Social Problems.
