My recent research primarily focuses on the intricate interplay between sustainable development and extractive industries in Arizona’s historic copper mining towns. The research delves into the multifaceted dynamics of these legacy communities, highlighting their resilient efforts to envision a future beyond copper mining. Combining my field experience in rural mining towns in Southern Arizona with critical theoretical perspectives, I aim to cultivate a study environment that inspires students to engage deeply with the complexities of contemporary issues. My goal is to foster a learning approach that encourages students to explore and apply the knowledge gained meaningfully to the pressing challenges of our interconnected world.
