Haroutounian named Preclinical Teacher of the Year Simon Haroutounian, PhD, MSc, chief of the Division of Clinical and Translational Research (DoCTR) and chief of Clinical Pain Research at the Washington University Pain Center, has been honored with the Preclinical Teacher of the Year award by the graduating Class of 2024. Six department faculty honored with 2024 Dean’s Impact Awards Six faculty members from the Department of Anesthesiology have been selected to receive the School of Medicine’s 2024 Dean’s Impact Award: Robert Gereau, PhD, Bernadette Henrichs, PhD, CRNA, Allison Mitchell, MD, Rachel Moquin, EdD, MA, Dolores Njoku, MD, and Brian Wessman, MD. Read more department award articles Industry Awards Hector-Greene receives FAER Mentored Research Training Grant Melissa Hector-Greene, MD, PhD, was recently awarded a Mentored Research Training Grant from the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER) for her project titled, “Pathogenic Mechanisms of R190W Mutation in LMNA-Associated Cardiomyopathy.” This prestigious grant provides $250,000 in funding over two years to support the development of essential skills, the generation of preliminary data, and the publication of research findings. Cucinello-Ragland honored with 2024 NIH Outstanding Scholars in Neuroscience Award Jessi Cucinello-Ragland, PhD, has been named a recipient of the 2024 NIH Outstanding Scholars in Neuroscience Award Program (OSNAP). Anesthesiology members receive McDonnell Center grants to advance addiction, pain, and aging studies Three researchers from the Department of Anesthesiology, Khairunisa Binte Mohamad Ibrahim, PhD, Kyle Parker, PhD, and Mitsukuni Yoshida, MD, PhD, are among the recipients of this year’s McDonnell Center for Systems Neuroscience Small Grants. Nurse Anesthesia Program Ranks #11 in the U.S. News & World Report The Nurse Anesthesia Program at Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing has once again proven its excellence, securing the eleventh spot in the latest U.S. News & World Report’s 2024 Best Nursing Anesthesia Schools. This recognition highlights the program’s commitment to providing top-tier education and training for aspiring Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs). Dr. Rodriguez-Restrepo appointed Director of Pediatric Regional Anesthesia We are delighted to introduce Andrea Rodriguez-Restrepo, MD, as the newly appointed Director of Pediatric Regional Anesthesia at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, effective July 1, 2024. This appointment will provide leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for the pediatric regional anesthesia program. Inaugural Associate Vice-Chair for Faculty and Educator Development We are excited to announce the Department of Anesthesiology’s inaugural Associate Vice-Chair for Faculty and Educator Development, Rachel Moquin, EdD. This appointment recognizes Dr. Moquin’s senior leadership role, her unmatched expertise, and her countless department contributions to date. APP Leadership Announcement We are excited to announce the appointment of Trish Wilkinson, ACNP-BC, as the Director of APP Clinical Operations within the Division of Critical Care Medicine in the Department of Anesthesiology.
