Today, we are proud to be recognized as the nation’s top PT Program. Even as WUPT celebrates this special anniversary, we are taking stock of the challenges ahead and the actions required to remain a national leader. It is clear that the success of our next 75 years of the Program in Physical Therapy will depend greatly upon increased investment in students, faculty, and facilities. As we celebrate this special anniversary, WUPT urges alumni and friends to generously renew and increase your support of these critical areas and to become active in encouraging classmates and others to join you. Together, we can ensure that the next 75 years of the Program in Physical Therapy will be as great as the first 75! Our 75th Anniversary Priorities Continue to attract a talented and diverse student bodyContinue to attract and retain outstanding facultyAdvance the scholarship, research, and creative potential of students and facultyFurther strengthen an exceptional teaching, research, and working environmentEnhance excellence throughout the Program in Physical Therapy by increasing unrestricted annual support Funding Opportunities Endowed scholarships are a permanent source of support for deserving students. A portion of the earnings is reinvested each year to help the principal grow and provide an ever-increasing income. Larger endowments increase the support available for each student. Endowed scholarships begin at $100,000 and may be funded over time, through a planned gift, or by bequest. Annual Scholarships offer donors the opportunity to sponsor a named scholarship on an annual basis. Your scholarship may be named in honor of yourself, a friend or a family member, or in memory of a loved one. We encourage donors to pledge to renew their annual scholarships each year for a two- to four-year term. Annual Scholarships begin at $5,000, $10,000, and above. Annual scholarships are recognized with membership in the William Greenleaf Eliot Society. Endowed Professorships are the best incentive to attract and retain the best scholars and teachers. For WUPT to remain among the premier programs in the world, it must have a great faculty. A portion of the income from a permanently invested endowment gift is used each year to provide for salary, benefits and research support for a selected faculty member. This support enables the professorship holder to initiate research and pioneer projects that offer the greatest potential for yielding breakthrough discoveries and to teach and train the next generation of exceptional practitioners. Endowed professorships are the highest honor a university can bestow upon a member of its faculty. Endowed Professorships begin at $2 million. Endowed Research Funds are critical for the advancement of scholarly inquiry. Through a portion of the income from permanently invested endowment gifts, Program in Physical Therapy faculty members can have the freedom to explore new ideas that lay the groundwork for progress in movement science. They have the resources to train tomorrow’s best scientists so that effective and creative research will continue. Endowed Research Funds begin at the $50,000 level. Facilities Naming Opportunities now exist at WUPT following the Program’s dramatic investment to upgrade its teaching and research environment. Naming opportunities range from $5,000 to $250,000 and include Research Laboratories, Classrooms, Treatment Rooms, Study Rooms, and more. As an alumnus, you are not only part of WUPT’s rich history, you are a vital factor in the Program’s future success. We rely on alumni support to fulfill our mission.
