Publication Requirements PubMed Central ID (PMC ID) Registration All investigators funded by the NIH, including those using ICTS services or receiving ICTS funding, must be compliant with the NIH Public Access Policy. This policy mandates that the author’s final version of any peer-reviewed journal article resulting from NIH-funded activities be submitted to the PubMed Central (PMC) repository. PMC reference numbers (PMCIDs) are part of the mandatory Public Access Law and are required for citation in future NIH grant applications. Lack of compliance with this law may result in a delay of Notices of Award for future grants. Any investigator submitting an application, proposal, or report to the NIH must include the PMCID when citing applicable papers. Visit the WU Becker Medical Library for more information and support. Note: A PMID alone is not compliant with Public Access Law. The PMCID is not the same as the PubMed ID (PMID).PubMed Central is an index of full-text papers and a PMCID links directly to the paper.PubMed is an index of abstracts and the PMID links to abstracts in PubMED. ClinicalTrials.gov Applicable clinical trials must be registered at ClinicalTrials.gov by federal law[KB1].  Clinical trials must be registered per the Food and Drug Administration Amendments Act, Section 801, or the NIH Policy on the Dissemination of NIH-Funded Clinical Trial Information.  Trials must be submitted to ClinicalTrials.gov no later than 21 calendar days following the study start (initiation) date. Studies that may be subject to the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) Clinical Trial Registration Policy must be registered prior to informed consent of the first participant. Note that the primary responsibility for registration of clinical trials and the posting of results resides with the Principal Investigator. See the policies, procedures and guidelines for clinical trials registration and informed consent posting on the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research website. To obtain a username and password for registration, email [email protected]. For more information, contact Michelle Jenkerson, Associate Director of the Center for Clinical Studies, at 314-362-5626.
