See available summer employment below. Summer Resident Advisor The Summer Resident Advisor (RA), as a member of the Residential Life team, is supervised by a Residential Community Director (RCD). As a representative of the Office of Residential Life, Summer Programs and Conference Services, and the Office of Undergraduate Research RAs must abide by and uphold university regulations as well as state and federal law. Application Status: Currently Closed General Expectations Minimum 2.5 GPA Enrolled as a Full time Student during the Spring semester Junior or Senior in class standing Role model positive behavior that is in alignment consistent with Residential Life expectations, and the University’s Community Principles Student Judicial Code, and individual Community Standards. Foster an environment that is respectful of and conducive to intellectual discourse among all members of the community. Organize and implement 4-6 programs Collaboration & Involvement Become familiar with position expectations, individual RCD expectations, and policies and procedures laid out by the Office of Residential Life and Summer Programs and Conference Services. Implement and evaluate university and departmental policies, regulations, and procedures. Serve as an ambassador of the Office of Residential Life and Summer Programs and Conference Services. Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by the RCD, other Residential Life staff, and Summer Programs and Conference Services’ staff. Crisis Management & Emergency Response Respond to personal crises and emergencies of residents and/or conference guests with promptness, dependability and in a manner that shows care and consideration for individual needs in alignment with university and Residential Life guidelines. Serve as a Responsible Employee for the University. A responsible employee is a Washington University employee who has the authority to address sexual misconduct, who has the duty to report incidents of sexual misconduct, or who a member of the university community could reasonably believe has such authority or duty. Document crisis and emergency information into the Residential Life reporting system. Be familiar with campus and community resources in order to provide information and referrals to students and/or conference guests. Enforce and uphold all university and Residential Life policies, rules and regulations. Participate in cell phone duty rotation to respond to crisis situations. Administrative Complete all required paperwork in a timely and accurate manner. Identify and report maintenance concerns in community. Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the RCD and other Residential Life professionals. Attend weekly staff meetings and/or trainings. Attend weekly and/or bi-weekly 1:1s with RCD. Personal and Professional Development Plan and facilitate programming for Summer School Students. Support the programming efforts of Summer Programs and Conference Services. Compensation Single room, wired and wireless Ethernet connections. 250 meal points. Summer Front Desk Worker The Front Desk Worker acts as a positive representative of the Office of Residential Life.  They are asked to serve as an ambassador to the public, keeping in line with the office’s positive, client-oriented, open door image while assisting callers and visitors. The staff in Residential Life rely upon the Front Desk Workers to provide accurate information and assistance to callers and visitors in a customer service oriented and professional manner. Application Status: Currently Closed Summer Front Desk Worker Interest Form Job Responsibilities Student should expect to assist central staff and customers as directed through administrative/clerical support.  This includes, but is not limited to: Answering phones Assisting or taking messages Conducting residence hall/campus tour Photocopying, replenishing paper Distributing Mail Faxing, Filing, Labeling, laminating, shredding Key Access and Lockouts Mailings, Equipment Checkout, Student Check Ins Assisting with departmental recognition, on-boarding, and off-boarding material Reporting maintenance/housekeeping issues to appropriate persons Delivering or picking up items on campus Special departmental projects Event planning Other duties as assigned Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Must be an undergraduate student attending Washington University in St. Louis. Must have flexibility between the hours of 8:30am – 5:00pm. Must have flexibility to work during the summer. Must have flexibility to work evening and weekend hours. *As needed. Preferred Qualifications Possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and administrative skills. Possess the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in a written manner, with students, visitors, parents, staff, and other members of the WashU community. Experience in customer service and one on one interactions. Exhibit professionalism and respect. Terms of Employment Position Elements Front Desk worker hours will be approx. 20 hours per week. Position allows students to continue placing priority on their undergraduate degree. 4-month obligation with assistance needed in August. Weekend and evening responsibilities needed. Compensation Hourly pay for university student workers. Bear Bucks totaling $150.00 Housing is included. Residential Life Polo will be provided. Terms of Employment Paid Summer Front Desk Training: Time commitment of maximum 5 hours for shadowing must be completed between hire date and Wednesday, May 5th. Front desk worker should maintain a commitment to the position regarding scheduling and being present. Contract Dates Academic Year: Hire Date: Expectation to be hired by Late April for a May start.
