Recomendations for 2021 Strategies to Improve Learning (remote) To build community and casual conversation, come early and stay late at your zoom meetings, create optional in person meetings, and create smaller break out rooms to have casual conversations. Enter all your due dates in the Canvas course so that items show up in students master calendar. Being able to see all due dates in one place helps students manage multiple due dates. Use the Canvas module function to organize content into a chronological or topic format for quickly referencing and finding information. Schedule all Zoom meetings through the Canvas integration so that each meeting automatically shows up in the Canvas calendar. (Instruction Link) The Announcement function of Canvas provides a quick way to compartmentalize critical information about the class as opposed to using email. Announcements keep a clear record of the classes critical information. Box is best for large files, but consider following a naming convention to improve finding folder content such as fl20_419_rivera_vonrohr_enrique. It has the semester, course, faculty, and students. You can add _elevation.pdf at the end if submitting a file.  Such a naming conventions help everyone find folders and files. If you are creating a collaborative Figma board for continued use throughout the semester, consider a page or area that includes links to the Canvas course, your Zoom meeting link, and any other key resources related to the class. Use a Wacom tablet when possible to draw on students work. It will improve clarity when marking up students work in various ways. Remote learning has taken more time, at least this first go around. While this may seem counter intuitive, the complexity of navigating content and its delivery can be complex. Consider stating how long you anticipate activities should take to complete in your syllabi and seeking feedback from students to align.
