Open Student Positions Library Space and Building Operations Management (LSBOM) Student Assistant The Library Space and Building Operations Management (LSBOM) Student Assistant position provides first-tier, student-to-student building usage monitoring, policy communication, and enforcement in Olin Library under the direction of and in coordination with supervisors/LSBOM staff. The position helps to ensure building usage policies and guidelines are understood and followed by users and that relevant building usage data is gathered to inform day-to-day operations and decision-making. Performs other LSBOM duties as needed and assigned, including supporting Building Operations & Support Services (BOSS) functions such as processing outgoing University Libraries shipments. Available summer hours are Monday through Thursday, 5:00 to 8:30 pm. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Performs regularly scheduled building walkthroughs, including but not limited to counting users, first-tier addressing of non-adherence to building usage policies/guidelines, documenting maintenance and cleaning needs, and alerting supervisors/LSBOM staff of the need for backup and second-tier support. Data entry of headcounts, instances of non-adherence to policies/guidelines, maintenance/cleaning needs, and other data entry as needed. Assists supervisors/LSBOM staff with building opening and closing procedures and emergency evacuation procedures as needed. Other duties as assigned, including supporting BOSS functions as needed. Special Skills for this Position The LSBOM Student Assistant position requires excellent customer service, communication, and basic computing skills, including data entry using forms and spreadsheets. Ability/willingness to engage and inform peers who are not adhering to building usage policies and guidelines, calm assertiveness, strong judgment and critical thinking skills, a high degree of dependability, and orientation to detail are also essential. The position requires prolonged periods of standing/walking while carrying department-assigned radio and other equipment.
