We hope you participate in activities provided by Washington University, the School of Medicine, and beyond to enhance your time in St. Louis. Student Academy of Audiology Founded in 2009, SAA is the national student organization of the American Academy of Audiology (AAA). It serves as a collective voice for audiology students and advances the rights, interests, and welfare of students pursuing a career in audiology. Washington University&＃8217;s SAA chapter is extremely active, offering students social, academic, leadership, and philanthropic opportunities throughout the year. Health Professional Student Leadership Council The Health Professional Student Leadership Council (HPSLC) is an interprofessional group of healthcare students who strive to promote and advance the understanding of collaboration between all healthcare professions on the Washington University Medical Center Campus and beyond. These include medicine, audiology, deaf education, physical therapy, occupational therapy, nursing, and pharmacy. HPSLC holds academic, social, and philanthropic events throughout the year with the common goal of providing effective patient care. Arts Commission The Arts Commission is a student group dedicated to promoting the arts in the Washington University medical school community. They organize the Coffeehouse Concert Series three times a year, featuring a variety of talented students including soloists, poets, a capella groups like the Histones, and even clowns! The Arts Commission also publishes Hippocrene, the School of Medicine’s literary and visual arts magazine, puts on a winter concert for students, faculty and staff of the School of Medicine, and organizes an art show each year. Medical School Musical For the past 15 years, students at Washington University School of Medicine have produced and performed fully staged, choreographed and orchestrated Broadway musicals. The Medical School Musical is student-produced, with students performing onstage, conducting and playing in the pit orchestra, building sets, sewing costumes, directing, and running lights and sound. Past productions include hits like Guys and Dolls, Young Frankenstein, Legally Blonde, Beauty and the Beast, The Addams Family and Shrek: The Musical!  Over the years, PACS students have shared their talents by being a part of these productions. Students&＃8217; Association of Speech and Hearing (SASH) The Students&＃8217; Association of Speech and Hearing seeks to provide support and resources for students with an interest in speech and hearing sciences. Events and meetings will inform members about the field and what is involved in pursuing careers in speech and hearing sciences. Members will support one another as they pursue a field that is underrepresented on the WashU undergraduate campus. Other Activities Among our accomplished study body, you&＃8217;ll also find talented artists, singers, athletes, and philanthropists who thrive on fulfilling their desire to make meaningful contributions to their communities. Dozens of campus groups and activities—many of them student initiated and run—allow School of Medicine students to develop these passions in areas including community service, civic activism and artistic expression. MSDE students can also participate in the Department of Education&＃8217;s education honor society, Kappa Delta Pi.
