Residency Virtual Tour Our goal is to train residents so that they may provide patient care at the highest possible level while in training and beyond. This is a “residency-comes-first” program. Our faculty are committed to education. Our fellows are committed to education. We expect our residents to be committed to education and excellence. The philosophy of our training program is to provide a comprehensive introduction to ophthalmology through an in-depth clinical experience. The development of a strong foundation in clinical ophthalmology is the primary responsibility of our residents, but we provide many opportunities for extended research training as a supplement to the clinical training program. We believe that the most effective method of education is by graded responsibility through supervision in a busy residency. This mentoring relationship fosters increasing clinical independence as well as career development. Our graduates are not only excellent clinicians at the end of their training, but they are also encouraged and supported to become the future leaders in Ophthalmology. Indeed, 32 current or former Department Chairmen trained in our program and continue in our rich tradition of educational commitment. You will find that our department is brimming with enthusiasm for collaboration, patient care and learning, all in an incredibly supportive training environment. We cannot wait to showcase our Ophthalmology program to you.
