Forest Park Forest Park, one of the nation&＃8217;s largest urban parks, is literally across the street from WashU&＃8217;s Danforth Campus. Perfect for an active lifestyle, our students take advantage of the 120 miles of paved bikeways, tennis courts, golf courses, lakes and ball fields, and that&＃8217;s not the half of it. Forest Park is also home to some of the city&＃8217;s most popular attractions&＃8212;the zoo, art museum, history museum and science center&＃8212;all of which are free to the public. Gateway Arch Standing 630 feet tall, the Gateway Arch is the tallest man-made monument in the Western Hemisphere. It&＃8217;s often called the Gateway to the West and stands as a symbol of the diverse people who shaped the United States. Missouri Botanical Garden Founded in 1859, the Missouri Botanical Garden is the nation's oldest botanical garden in continuous operation and a National Historic Landmark. The garden offers 79 acres of beautiful horticultural display, including a 14-acre Japanese strolling garden, historic architecture, and one of the world's largest collections of rare and endangered flora. University City Loop The Loop neighborhood is a favorite of WashU students. Some live there, and many hang out there. And it&＃8217;s within walking distance of campus. Visit Olin Where Students Live On Campus The South 40 serves as housing for first- and second-year students. It&＃8217;s like a small town with its own fitness center, dining facilities, technology center, meeting rooms, intramural fields, basketball and sand volleyball courts, recreation and game rooms, and music practice rooms. In addition, Bear Necessities (gift shop), Paws & Go (convenience store), the mail room and several student-run businesses are located nearby. Residential Life&＃8217;s north side of the campus has three areas: on-campus apartments, the Village and off-campus apartments that offer many amenities, including a game lounge, computer labs, classrooms, ample meeting and study areas, a caf&＃233;, and a coffee shop. It is also home to fraternity housing. Off Campus Among the 20 largest metropolitan areas in the United States, St. Louis ranks second among the most-affordable housing markets. Our city has gracious neighborhoods and safe housing options. WashU owns and operates several apartment complexes specifically for graduate students.
