Our goal is to support faculty and graduate students across Washington University to conduct global projects that do not fit within traditional disciplines. Complex problems, including forced migration and human trafficking, climate change, or the rise of neo-populism, to only mention a few, require cross-disciplinary approaches and transnational perspectives. EligibilityGlobal Studies offers five Small Grants of up to $2,000 each year.   The Global Futures Small Grants support projects that: cross traditional disciplines and have an international focus in the form of research assistance, travel for research or conferences, editing costs, book subventions, ethics review costs for research with human subjects, publication expenses for articles, meetings with collaborators, or new course development. Who is eligible? Washington University faculty and graduate students (with a faculty sponsor) are eligible to apply. Applications DUE November 17, 2023. Review and Selection The Global Studies Small Grants Committee will select the winning proposals. Notifications will be given by December 8, 2023. Award Period Project funds must be used by June 1, 2024. She will also field questions.): APPLICATIONS MUST INCLUDE: • Title and Abstract, including the research question, methodology, and methods • Description of the task for which the grant will be used and expected outcome  • Short statement on the relevance of the project for Global Studies with a review of relevant research across disciplines that grounds the project • A detailed budget with a breakdown of how the funds will be spent • Names and affiliations of any global or local collaborators  • An updated CV  Please note: • Applications from graduate students to be endorsed by their faculty advisor.   • All Small Grant proposals that are approved for funding and involve the use of human subjects (e.g., payment or stipends to research participants) must obtain appropriate approval through the University’s Institutional Review Board.
