Most recently he has developed new machine learning methods for rapidly and thoroughly evaluating perception and cognition. These new tests are not only useful for exploring normal nervous system function, but also for diagnosing disorders. The principles contributing to these successful diagnostics may also lead to effective neurotherapeutics, alone or when coupled with drug or device therapies. Biography Prior to joining the faculty at Washington University in St. Louis in 2004, Barbour was a Research Associate at the Salk Institute for Biological Sciences.
