The basic structure of the liaison program is built on the strength of the more than 70 T/K/R/D programs currently in practice at WashU School of Medicine. Benefits of the Mentoring Liaison Program Mentoring resourcesGuidelines to create a relevant mentoring curriculumAnnual Retreat to share best practicesAssistance with the Mentoring Component for training grant applications Program-Specific Mentor Champion Each training program identifies a Mentor Champion whose responsibility is to design a mentoring curriculum for the mentors and trainees within their specific training program. This individual will receive training and resources from the CRTC, which they can then modify for the specific needs of the individual T/K/R/D trainees. Program-Specific Mentor Training One of the main advantages of the Mentoring Liaison Program is the recognition that one size does not fit all in regard to training. The training will be individualized to best address each training program&＃8217;s unique needs and opportunities. This structure promotes creativity within each training program and flexibility. How It Works Focus on Diversity and Inclusion As part of an overall emphasis of the ICTS to promote inclusive practices and address areas of improvement in structural racism within the institution, the Mentoring Liaison Programprovides an opportunity to educate the next generation of clinician-scientists. The CRTC will work closely with the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to develop training modules, listening sessions, and speaker events to increase awareness and commitment to equity.
