How to apply Program highlights ProfessionalOur fellows are fully integrated as members of the department, functioning as faculty members and recognized as peers. In labor and delivery, fellows train with board-certified in maternal-fetal medicine physicians in the inpatient and outpatient areas. Significant training in prenatal diagnosis, ultrasound and fetal care is also provided. TailoredIndividual schedules within the three-year fellowship are personalized for each trainee’s professional goals, and many fellows hone their specialization by pursuing an additional graduate degree during their training. Experience drivenNationally ranked, Barnes-Jewish Hospital delivers more than 4,000 patients each year; about half are high-risk pregnancies. Research directedOur robust research enterprise offers extensive opportunity for research at every stage, with a minimum 12 months of protected research built into the program. Partnering with an established mentor, fellows have access to facilities, collaborators and resources across the university. Highly productiveOur MFM fellows publish and present at one of the highest rates in the country, averaging seven peer-reviewed publications per fellow by graduation. Engaged in teachingHeavily engaged in the education of residents and medical students, our fellows are frequent recipients of the department’s annual teaching awards. Most of our recent graduates hold academic positions at institutions throughout the country.
