Traditionally these pregnancies have been described as “high risk.” Our team includes full-time faculty who are board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and have also completed fellowship training in maternal-fetal medicine and are either board certified or board qualified in this medical subspecialty. The practice also includes highly skilled nurse specialists who assist in providing prenatal care. The physicians and nurses specialize in the care of pregnancies complicated by many different medical problems such as hypertension, diabetes, thyroid disease and sickle cell anemia. They specialize in the care of multiple gestation pregnancies such as twins and those described as higher order multiple gestations (triplets and more). Our team: Providing complete obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound imaging services, our core of physicians are board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and subspecialty board-certified in either maternal-fetal medicine or clinical genetics. They have extensive experience in the performance and interpretation of targeted ultrasound examinations to detect fetal malformations, as well as diagnostic procedures such as genetic amniocentesis, percutaneous umbilical cord blood sampling (PUBS) and both transabdominal and transcervical chorionic villus sampling (CVS). Specialized ultrasound studies, including Doppler evaluation of the umbilical cord, fetus, placenta and ovaries are used to evaluate particular disorders of fetal growth and development. The ultrasound staff includes two board-certified genetic counselors and 11 sonographers who are registered in obstetrics/gynecology and who specialize in obstetric and gynecologic sonography. Our physicians work closely with the neonatologists and pediatric subspecialists at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
