Beta Alpha Psi members and professionals from Deloitte, EY, KPMG, Protiviti, RubinBrown and UHY, as well as WUSTL alumni and Olin faculty and staff members, attended the banquet. BAP, founded in 1919, is an honorary organization for accounting and finance students and professionals. Olin’s chapter was officially installed in April 2015. This year was extremely successful for BAP. The club hosted many professional events, encompassing subjects from technology in accounting to not-for-profit accounting. BAP also increased its membership with 36 talented young professionals from both the undergraduate and graduate programs. Highlights of the night included the inspiring career story from guest speaker Al Kent, an Olin faculty member and former Managing Partner of the PwC office in St. Louis, a brief review by outgoing BAP President Casey Wagenaar of the Chapter’s accomplishments during 2016 that earned it recognition as a Distinguished Chapter at the BAP National Annual Meeting, and the presentation of awards to outstanding members for: Greatest New Member Commitment to Beta Alpha Psi: Scarlett Gao; Most Professional Event Participant: Drew Li; Outstanding Class Contribution: Ben Abramowitz; Outstanding Contribution for Insightful Commentary: Amanda Bauche, David Munroe; Outstanding Contribution for Enthusiasm: Maggie Wu; Outstanding Academic Achievement: Casey Wagenaar, Gina Choi. The chapter’s officers–both the newly elected officers and those who are completing their terms–as well as graduating members, were honored at the event. Continuing last year’s tradition, the outgoing National Reporting Secretary Lucy Lu prepared a surprise video to thank the BAP advisors, Professor David B. Pearson and Professor Mark Soczek, for their dedication and support of Beta Alpha Psi. Beta Alpha Psi would like to thank the Weston Career Center, the Graduate Programs office, and Olin undergraduate and graduate faculty and staff for their ongoing support, and Ellie Cooney and Lin Liu for planning the Awards Dinner.
